What We Believe

Jesus Christ is God the Son, the second person of the Trinity.  On earth, Jesus was one hundred percent God and one hundred percent man.  He is the only man ever to have lived a sinless life.  He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross for human kind and, thus, atoned for our sins through the shedding of His blood.  He rose from the dead on the third day according to the scriptures, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return again in power and glory.     (Isaiah 9:6,  John 1:1,14, 20:28, Phil 2:5-6, 1 Tim 2:5, 3:16)

We are saved through faith in Jesus Christ; His death, burial and resurrection.  Salvation is a gift from God, not a result of our good works or any human effort.   (Rom 10:9-10, Acts 16:31, Gal 2:16, 3:8, Eph 2:8-9, Titus 3:5, Heb 9:2)

…about THE BIBLE

We believe in the ultimate authority of the Bible for all matters of faith and practice.  Matters of faith (doctrinal) practice must conform to those same scriptures.  The priority of the scriptures in these areas is promoted through teaching and training, so that members learn to interpret and apply the Bible to their individual lives and homes.

…about HEALING

Healing of the sick is illustrated in the life and ministry of Jesus, and is included in Jesus’ commission to His disciples.  Healing of the sick is given as a sign that is to follow believers.  It is also a part of Jesus’ work on the cross and one of the gifts of the Spirit.    (Isa 53:5, Matt 8:16-17, Mark 16:17-18, Acts 8:6-7, Rom 11:29, 1 Cor 12:9,28, James 5:14-16)

There is one God, that eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son (Jesus) and Holy Spirit.  These three are co-equal and co-eternal.    (Gen 1:26, Isa 9:6, Matt 3:16-17, 28:19, Luke 1:35, Heb 3:7-11, 1 John 5:7)

…about WORSHIP

We seek to be a place of life-giving praise and worship.  We understand the benefits of praise and worship, but primarily view these as a time of ministry to the Lord.  Forms of worship, though important, serve only as tools for human expression.  True worship is a lifestyle of holiness and dedication to the Lord.  Every believer is considered to be a temple of God where His presence dwells.

…about TITHING

Tithing reflects a grateful heart that wants to give back to God a portion of what He has given us; in reality, what is already His.  Tithing is our opportunity to show God that He is first in our lives.  James 1:17 says that, “Every good and perfect gift is from above….,” so we have an opportunity to tangibly show God He is the “owner” of our finances by giving Him the first of what He gives us.   (Mal 3:6-12)

We are a missions church.  We recognize that God’s mission to reach the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ is presently carried out by the missions activities that Grace wholeheartedly affirms and supports missions.  Members are encouraged to support local, regional and international missions through prayer and intercession, funding, and personal involvement.  We provide an atmosphere where members can engage in going into our own city or to the nations with the love of Jesus.

Given at Pentecost, the baptism in the Holy Spirit is the promise of the Father.  The Holy Spirit was sent by Jesus after His ascension to empower the Church to preach the gospel throughout the whole earth, to fill our hearts with God’s precious love, and to write God’s truth on our hearts and minds.    (Joel 2:28-29, Matt 3:11, Mark 16:17, Acts 1:5, 2:1-4,17,38-39, Acts 8:14-17, Acts 10:38,44-47, Acts 11:15-17, Acts 19:1-6)

Bible verse of the day
Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
